Religious Education

” Full authority has been given to me both in Heaven and on Earth; Go, Therefore, and make disciples of all the nations… teach them to carry out everything I have commanded you. And know that I am with you always. Until the end of the world!” (Matthew 28:18-20)

St. Catherine of Genoa – St Therese of Lisieux School

St. Catherine of Genoa ~ St. Thérèse of Lisieux Catholic Academy proudly opened it doors for the first time in September, 2011. We are a rich blend of the best of the two parish schools. Our community is made up of experienced administrators, highly gifted teachers, students and families from every Island of the Caribbean.

We will strive to maintain and enrich our commitment to provide an enduring Catholic education for our students while we constantly work to enhance our long standing record of academic excellence. To the best of our ability, we will foster your child’s spiritual, emotional, social and academic growth.

Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD)

Into the Sacramental Program are incorporated students from the Parish School and the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) currently called Religious Education. The Religious Education Program of the parish provides weekly religious instruction to many children with a staff of dedicated volunteers. Our weekly Religious Education Program is held on Sundays between 9:45 am and 10:45 am, after which the children together with their parents and teachers attend the Parish Family Mass at 11:00 am. An important component of the Sacramental Program is a series of meetings with parents to help them work more effectively with their children in understanding the sacraments and in deepening their faith.  For registration and information, call the Religious Education Office at 718-469-7505

Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA)

For adults, we have the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults program, which provides religious instruction to adults who are interested in becoming members of our church.  This program is under the supervision of Father Charles Akoto Oduro. For information, please contact the rectory office at 718-282-7162

There is more to be done in the area for youth after Confirmation, as well as for Adult Faith Enrichment Classes. Our parishioners presented a strong desire to have a study of the Bible. Encounter experiences for married couples, professional discussions and lectures on property upkeep, civil rights, legal responsibilities, as well as classes in the English language were other areas of interest expressed by the parish.
